ATN X Sight Features & UI
Operates at a billion cycles per second, the core pushes optics into the 21st century. The Obsidian Core is a highly specialised computer that is designed to run a suite of sensors and crunch huge files in a blink of an eye. Full HD Utilising high-resolution sensor with distinct night vision capability. It is easier than setting up your smartphone and just like your phone offers plenty of customisation to make your rifle scope fit your needs. The ATN X Sight has night HD lenses, night HD sensors and HD displays giving you a full night HD resolution system. Ballistic calculators were never this easy. No more charts, complex reticles and calculators. The Obsidian Shooting Solution does it all. Range in with your Smart Range Finder, enter your wind readings and let the Obsidian Core do the rest. Turn through the wind, change your incline angle, adjust distance and instantaneously your point of impact will shift to have a perfect shot every time. As with the original, the new night vision allows you to capture your shots in full 1080p HD but now using the RAV (Recoil Activated Video) you don't even have to remember to hit the record button, just set your video to record RAV, the system buffers everything your scope sees. As the trigger is pulled, you are left with a full video of what you saw before the shot was taken, the moment of, and as much video after as you care for. Record videos and take photos and share them with your friends and on social media. Save all the Ballistic and Zeroing data in the profile manager for each rifle that you plan to use with the rifle scope. You no longer have to worry about resetting everything up each time. Just create a new profile, and you are ready to go. Patent pending smart rangefinder makes your life easier than ever. With only a few clicks and a simple shift of the scope, you can range your target. Once ranged your reticle will automatically adjust its point of impact. No more guessing, chart memorisation or complex calculations. Unlike many traditional optics, the silky smooth zoom of the ATN X sight night vision scope allows you to get up close and personal with everything you're looking at. The next-gen barometer gives you precise, accurate data so you can make sure everything is dialled in. Improve ability to smoothly spot game by activating the built I gyroscope & image stabilisation. Steady your view and make the experience a lot more fun. The Compass lets you know exactly what direction you need to head so you can move a little closer and get a better shot at that prey your tracking.
Bluetooth & WIFI
By utilising the obsidian app, you can control your device and view live streaming. Easily connect a phone or tablet and view everything simultaneously. Want to see what you have recorded so far? No problem, once connected to the app via Wifi, open up the gallery and playback your latest video captures.

This is a very impressive bit of kit.
For a long time, I used a NiteSite Viper which is an add-on kit and forces you to shoot head up. Whilst this is OK, it's not a natural way to shoot where as the ATN X Sight lets you return to the head down, rifle scope way of shooting for both day and night.
This is a HD colour digital camera which means the overall image quality blows away the NiteSite kit which is essentially a camera, looking down your optics and recording to the SD card. There's no image processing done like there is on the ATN.
It's still taking me a little time getting used to using the X Sight after shooting head up for so long and this is partly due to the fact when you use these, what you're a really looking at is a small digital display in the rear of the unit which is focused via a rear lense. I do a lot of ratting and when you're in total darkness, this screen can glare your eye so they allow you to adjust the brightness also.
The image quality and target acquisition is superb. Because you can see so clearly (unlike the Viper which was very grainy) you can identify your quarry quickly, hit the one-touch record and boom... you're recording and you just concentrate on your shot placement.
Day to Night shooting (or vice versa!) is so easy. Just switch it in options and you're done. No assembling or disassembling kit, it's so easy. It's a decent size and it's very sturdy! A side mounted picatinny let's you add your IR torch (I use a T20 Evolva) but what I did was buy a third party Range Finder, attach that to the picatinny and epoxy another picatinny to the side of the range finder and attach my Illuminator to that. Now I can range-find it total darkness and have it all on the scope without altering the ATN unit.
I updated the firmware on delivery - this was as simple as copying a .bin file to the SD card and inserting it. The ATN does the rest.
The Obsidian App used to connect and stream video is terrible. I've used GoPro a lot and their App is amazing. ATN really need to give this App an overhaul and it does look cheap, it's flakey, the WiFi connector is a faff, I've yet to stream footage and it lets down what is otherwise an awesome product. But, this is NOT essential in using the sight so don't let that put you off.
The final night shot video (have a look on YouTube) is beautiful. It's like a black and white film, the quality is superb. Especially important where light quality is low - or light is non existent and where you're shooting around livestock and machinery.
I've been out with this quite a lot and as I customise/adjust the weapon mount, the eye piece and setting (there's a lot!) I'm loving it more and more.
I got the 5x - 20x but they also do a 3x - 14x. Research this carefully and get what's best for you and your shooting. The initial mag (3x or 5x), is the base optical magnification, the rest is DIGITAL ZOOM so keep that in mind if you're shooting longer distance often. If you're not sure, research OPTICAL vs DIGITAL zoom.
The unit comes in a nice bag with a sunshade and Illuminator. You need to supply batteries (go straight to Lithium batteries - not Alkaline). I bought an external power pack which I mount to the weapon and connect to the ATN over USB. This is wicked! It lets you run the unit with hours of continuous use. I keep Lithium batteries inserted as a fallback incase I knock the power out or the power pack dies.
When I'm done, I unmount the sight, pack it away and it's all good. I then re-mount it and the zero is still bang on!
Overall, I am VERY impressed with this kit and moving from NiteSite to ATN was a big decision (the cost outlay) but it was worth it. With onboard WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, Ballistics Calculator... and so much more... it's awesome! I understand they regularly do firmware updates so you can be sure you're always going to be up to date.
Now, the best until last. One shot zeroing. Honestly, I didn't think this was going to be as easy as it sounded so I booked a lane at the rifle range to put it to the test. I mounted the scope, looked down range at a target, took a shot. It was way off. I shifted the second (the zeroing) crosshair to where the shot landed and saved it. I reloaded, took another shot and it was on target. I took several more shots over the session to refine it further but only because I took advantage of switching optics to clean my barrel and I needed to re-lead it. So any leading could be tied with the zeroing, especially as I could re-zero on the X Sight so easily. It was unbelievably easy to do and by far the best and easiest sight to zero... ever!
If you're looking for a new sight and/or night vision capabilities, you really have to add this to your list of considerations. Go to your RFD and have a look, try it if possible and see what you think.
I bought it mainly for night time ratting but it's summer!! For once in my life, I'm looking forward to the colder months again!
I had been contemplating this purchase for some time but when I saw that Bradford Stalker were selling at such an amazing price I couldn’t resist and I am so glad I took the leap. The ATN X Sight is a fantastic piece of kit providing a raft of features that in the past could only be attainable by the wealthiest of shooters. The sight is a perfect addition to the shooters arsenal providing an amazingly clear day/night aspect with the ability to video your shots allowing you the ability to boast your achievements or to review your mistakes. The on board computer does take some of the skill of mental rangefinding away but can be a god send when faced with that critical shot. The only flaw I can comment on is how much power the unit eats when utilising all of the on board features but this is easily remedied through the purchase of an inexpensive rechargeable powerpack which can be attached to any gun effortlessly.
All in all, I am extremely happy with my purchase and for the quick and reliable service/after sales service that Bradford Stalker provides
This is a fantastic bit of kit for the money! It is mounted on a .223 centrefire, I use a Ledray F900 IR (haven't tried the supplied IR) and I can clearly see further than I would ever shoot at night . Easy to set up and intuative to use. It dosen't come with a detailed user manual you have to go to the ATN website for that (you can't download it!). There are also lots of Youtube videos that show you how to do everything. Take your time getting to know it. Experiment with the settings and IR at night and you won't be dissapointed. Add in the wifi (I have an old android tablet that when paired with the X-Sight shows what the X-Sight can see), the onboard recording (no plug in DVR needed) and this is a very versatile well specified NV scope for the money.
